Off the Hook Chocolate Chip Bars
These things are amazing. The reason why you have a mom – to give you recipies like this one…
1 stick butter
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 teaspoon cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup Spanish peanuts
Cream fats and sugars
Add egg yolks, water, vanilla, flour, and salt
Spread in jelly roll pan (that’s a 15.5 by 10.5 inches – a 9×13 inch pan should work ok)
Sprinkle with nuts and chips, arrange carefully and press into dough slightly.
Beat egg whites until stiff
Add 1 cup brown sugar and mix another minute
Spread on top of dough, nuts, and chips (A small knife and light touch will work better than a large spatula and brute force.)
Bake 30 minutes at 350.
